SUMMER 2012

In 2012 we expanded our popular summer program and offered camps every week of the gorgeous summer season. Each camp was filled to capacity with over 200 campers (ages 1-18) toddling, wheeling, and bounding into the PlayGarden ready for another day of playing hard with our awesome camp counselors.

PRESCHOOL 2012

Our inclusive outdoor preschool program was also expanded in 2012. While continuing to offer a morning program M-F, we successfully piloted an extended day program on Tuesday and Thursday with preschoolers staging for a fresh-picked PlayGarden lunch and afternoon time int he garden, mud pit, wild zone and animal coop.

PRESCHOOL 2011

The PlayGarden preschool curriculum is based on the Council for Environmental Education's curriculum, Growing Up WILD. This curriculum is correlated with both Head Start Domains and The National Association for the Education of Young Children's accreditation criteria. Themes follow the seasons of the year and include lessons connecting children to nature.

TRIMPIN WORKSHOP

Trimpin, the most famous sound-sculpture artist in the world, began a 5-day design workshop for children ages 9 to 16 at the PlayGarden July 8. The group is learning the mechanics of musical instruments and science of sound as they design an art feature for permanent display. "Art, music, and drama are important components of our programming," says PlayGarden Director Liz Bullard.""That an artist like Trimpin is working with our children is exciting beyond belief," she says.
